Obituary for Jimmy Stout

Odie Jimmy Stout died Feb. 16, 2007. He was born May 16, 1958, in Zama, Japan, the son of Odie and Iruko Sato Stout.

He was a 1976 graduate of Fayetteville High School. He held the rank of Specialist 4 in the U.S. Army.

He was survived by his mother; a brother, Jay Stout of Fayetteville; two sisters, Ginny Corken and her husband, Jerry, of Springdale, and Lorraine Hamilton and her husband, Tim, of Chester, Virginia, and more family.

His ashes are interred at the National Cemetery at Fayetteville.

Obituary for Angela West Lies

angela-west-liesAngela M. (West) Lies, 55, passed away Saturday, July 13, 2013. She was born Dec. 13, 1957, to Sarge and Shirley (Newton) West in Fort Smith, Ark.; the second of six children.

Angela married Larry Lies in Wichita, Kansas, on May 25, 1985, and they had three children. She attended Kansas State University. Angela worked at JC Penney’s for 18 years as a customer service representative. She was a member of Chisholm Trail Church of Christ. Angela enjoyed cleaning, shopping and spending time with family.

Survivors included her husband, Larry; children, Cheryl (Rob) Longan, Ariel Lies and Omar Rivera, and Taylor Lies; grandchildren, Devin Longan and Jace Longan; and siblings, Charles West, Tony West, Joseph (Robin) West, Luke West, and Anna Allen.

A memorial service was held July 20 at the Combs Street Church of Christ, Fayetteville.

Obituary for Nancy Dodson Peters

Nancy Dodson Peters, 39, of Denton, Texas, died Monday, May 4, 1998, at Denton Community Hospital. She was born September 25, 1958, in Little Rock, the daughter of Dr. Dwight and Nancy Sue (Allen) Dodson.

She graduated Fayetteville High School and attended the University of Arkansas. She was a member of Moms in Touch; vice president of PTA at Sam Houston; Campus Leader Team at Calhoun Middle School, and a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority. She was a homemaker and a mother.

Visitation was May 5 at Mulkey-Mason/Jack Schmitz and Son Funeral Home. Memorial service was Wednesday, May 6, at Denton Bible Church with Rev. Tom Nelson officiating.

Burial was in Roselawn Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Allen Dodson, Charles Dodson, Jack Swanson, Ron Swanson, Rob Mourton, Jim Peters.

Survivors included her husband, Tim W. Peters of Denton; three daughters, Stefanie, Lauren and Kendall of Denton; her parents, Nancy and Dwight Dodson of Fayetteville; two sisters, Lee Ann Stacpoole of Gainesville, Florida, Dana Dykman of Fayetteville; two brothers, Allen Dodson and Charles Dodson, both of Fayetteville; and many nieces and nephews.

Obituary for Sandi Coffin

Sandra “Sandi” Coffin Shera and her husband, Phillip Shera, died Feb. 6, 1993, at Fayetteville. She was born Nov. 18, 1957, at Pine Bluff, Arkansas, the daughter of Wayne and Mary M. Coffin.

She was a 1976 graduate of Fayetteville High School and was an office assistant at Crawford and Co. Insurance. She attended the University of Arkansas and was a Methodist.

Survivors included a stepson, Cade Ryan Shera of the home; her mother of Fayetteville, a brother, Steve Coffin of Fayetteville; a sister, Mikki Stone of Lowell; her grandmother, Dorothy Higginbotham of Fayetteville; a niece and a nephew.

A memorial service was held at Rolling Hills Baptist Church with the Rev. Layne Smith officiating. Arrangements were by Moore’s Chapel.

Richard “Ric” Dee Steel, 42, a longtime resident of El Paso, died on March 13, 2000.

He was born December 3, 1957, at Silver City, Grant County, New Mexico. He was a member of the Fayetteville High School class of 1976 and served in the Air Force at the rank of Senior Airman.

Survivors included his mother, Ethel Lawson; his brothers Gordon and Dr. Samuel Steel; his sister Carol Shepherd; and his uncles, Samuel Steel and Judge McFee. He was preceded in death by his father, Dr. James A. Steel, and his brother Jimmy Steel.

Graveside services were held at Fort Bliss National Cemetery, Section M, Site 2671, El Paso, Texas.

Obituary for Brooks Clower

brooks-clowerWilliam Brooks Clower Jr. died August 5, 2010. He was 52 years old. He was born Oct. 2, 1957, to William B. Clower Sr. and Janet Griffith Clower.

Brooks was a graduate of Fayetteville High School, where he was a member of the football and track teams. He played power fullback, earning him the nickname “Power Clower.”

After graduating from Fayetteville High, he attended the University of Arkansas, where he received his bachelor’s degree in geology. He earned a Master of Science in geology and a Juris Doctor from the School of Law.

He then was employed by Southwestern Energy Co. where he became senior attorney during his 15-year tenure. In 2001 he was recognized for his outstanding service as chair of the Natural Resource Law Section. He then worked for Walmart legal department as an environmental/real estate attorney. He covered a vast territory and worked in a very determined and honorable manner until his resignation in 2003.

He was a member of Central United Methodist Church and served his church as a Sunday school teacher and usher. He coached Little League baseball.

He was preceded in death by his father William Brooks Clower Sr. He was survived by his mother Janet Clower, his best friend, Leigh Clower, as well as their two children, William Brooks Clower III and Evan Asbury Clower. He was also survived by his two sisters Nancy Clower and Anne Clower.

Memorial service was Aug. 11, 2010, at Central United Methodist Church in Fayetteville under the direction of Moore’s Chapel in Fayetteville. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Hap Hairston, Read Hudson, Dr. Walter Manger, Web Darling, William Brooks Clower III, Hugh Kincaid, Kim Agee and Dr. Paul Nolan.

In lieu of flowers the family asked that donations be made to the University of Arkansas Geology Department, 113 Ozark Hall, Fayetteville, AR, 72701 and Central United Methodist Church, 6 West Dickson, Fayetteville, AR, 72703.

Obituary for Lynn Chandler

Lynn Warren Chandler died Sept. 25, 1976, at Fayetteville. He was born May 15, 1958, at Fullerton, California, the son of Darrell and Audrey Fletcher Chandler.

He was a 1976 graduate of Fayetteville High School and was a mechanic at the time of his death. He died in a one-vehicle accident on East Huntsville Road.

Survivors included his parents of Fayetteville; one brother David of Fayetteville; his maternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Fletcher of Fayetteville; his paternal grandmother, Mrs. Hazel Chandler of Fayetteville and a great-grandmother, Mrs. Eva Adams of Poplar Bluff, Missouri.

He is buried at Hester Cemetery in southeast Fayetteville.
