Obituary for Kirk Bradley

bradley-kirk-portrait-webWilliam Kirk Bradley died March 29, 1999, at Fayetteville. He was born June 3, 1958, at Fayetteville to Marvin and Dortha Burnett Bradley.

A 1976 graduate of Fayetteville High School, he was an employee of Superior Industries and a member of the North Street Church of Christ.

He was survived by his wife, Debbie Eaton Bradley of the home; one son, Jairus Bradley of the home; two daughters, Lisa Bradley and Keziah Bradley, both of the home; his parents of Fayetteville; and two sisters, Kathy Caudle of Brentwood and Kari Eaton of Wesley.

Services were at North Street Church of Christ with burial at Black Oak Cemetery near Winslow and under the direction of Moore’s Chapel. Memorials may be made to Razorbacks for Christ, 535 Storer, Fayetteville, AR 72701.

Obituary for Pat Miller Simpson

Patrice “Pat” Annette (Miller) Simpson died August 3, 2006, at Fort Smith. She was born February 10, 1958, at Fayetteville, the daughter of Florence (Miller) Arnold and Elinor Leroy Arnold Jr.

She was employed by the Summit Group as the executive housekeeper for the Comfort Inn of Fort Smith, where she was honored in December 2005 for having eight years of continual service, never missing a day of work.

While growing up in Fayetteville, she attended the St. James Methodist Church. She attended thousands of Little League and basketball games, watching her sons participate in their various sports activities. She was always happy to serve as dugout or team mom for her four sons at Jefferies Boys and Girls Club.

Survivors included her husband, Kim Eugene Simpson, a veteran of the Persian Gulf War; sons Travis Jordon and wife Chris, Tajon and Tavian, and foster son, Kuen McClain; grandchildren Alexis and Nathan Dempsey; brothers and sisters, Curtis Dabney, Beverly Keller, Kirk Deffenbaugh, Gary Smith and wife Lisa, Carol Ball and husband Rico, Barry Miller, twin sister Pam Miller, Sherron Arnold, Elinor Leroy Arnold III, Eddie Arnold and wife Gloria, Randall Arnold, Vanessa Garcia, Kim Sanders and husband Ray, Tonia Citizen and husband Willie, Caressa Banks, Arthur Banks, Eric Arnold West and wife Gayisha, Jimmy Flurry; and many nieces and nephews.

A visitation and funeral were held at the Fort Smith First Church of God in Christ. She was buried at Fort Smith National Cemetery under the direction of Rowell-Parish Mortuary.

Obituary for Brian McGreevy

Brian Allen McGreevy, 50, died Friday, February 8, 2008, at his home in Radford, Virginia. He was born October 18, 1957, in Columbus, Georgia, the son of Edgar Ned and Martha Anne McGreevy.

He graduated from Fayetteville High School as part of the class of 1976 and graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from University of Arkansas. He received his Master of Business Administration at the University of Texas in Austin. He was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma which members are recognized for business excellence.

He was preceded in death by his brother Greg. Survivors included his parents and his brother, Kevin, of Atlanta, Georgia; and several cousins. Memorial services were held Saturday, February 16, 2008, at the St. Jude Catholic Church with Father Ken Shuping officiating. Local funeral arrangements were by Mullins Funeral Home & Crematory in Radford.

Janean Gayle Love (Skarda) Bice died in November 14, 1994, at Des Arc, Arkansas. She was born December 22, 1957, at San Diego, California.

Survivors included her husband, Terry Bice; a daughter, Taylor Bice; a step-son, Ashley Bice; her parents, J.C. Love and the late Ardath Jean Love; two brothers, Kyle Love and Michael Beadle; a sister, Karen Neal; her grandmother, Delma Berry.

Funeral was at the First United Methodist Church with burial at Johnson Chapel Cemetery and arrangments by Garth Funeral Home of Des Arc.

Obituary for Linda Bixby Vandagriff

linda-bixby-vandagriffLinda Christine Bixby Vandagriff, age 53, died at her home in Anchorage, Alaska, on October 5, 2011, after a battle with pancreatic cancer. She was born June 4, 1958, at Bryan, Texas, the daugher of Marvin D. and Carolyn Byers Bixby.

She was a graduate of Fayetteville High School. She pursued her undergraduate degree in accounting at Sam Houston State University. Later, she received her master’s degree in management at Southern Oregon University before moving to Valdez, Alaska, in 1988. While in Valdez until 1996, she worked at the Prince William Sound Community College as a business manager.

She also worked for the College of the Siskiyous in Weed, California, as the director of accounting services, the finance director for Alaska Pacific University and for the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Alaska-Anchorage as the budget director. Linda made Anchorage her home in 2004.

Linda loved quilting and shopping for her grandchildren. She was an avid reader and was a craft enthusiast.

Linda was preceded in death by her brother, Gary E. Bixby.

She was survived by her parents, Marvin Bixby and Carolyn Byers Bixby of Tontitown, Ark.; her sons, Matthew G. Vandagriff and wife Krissi Howe Vandagriff, of Houston, Texas, and Jacob D. Vandagriff of Achorage; grandchildren, Thomas, Carolyn and Helen Vandagriff; her brother, Paul W. Bixby and his wife, Frankie Allen Bixby, of Fayetteville; niece, Savannah Bixby of Fayetteville; and special cousins, Judy and Bob Lawrence of Yorba Linda, California.

A memorial service was held at the ChangePoint Church in Anchorage, Alaska, on Oct. 11, 2011, with the Rev. Dave Bacher officiating.

She is buried at Goshen Cemetery.

Obituary for Cheryl Allred

allred-cheryl-portrait-webCheryl Ann Allred, 54, of Fayetteville, died Saturday, March 16, 2013, in Fayetteville. She was born Sept. 30, 1958, in King City, California, the daughter of Kenneth and Patsy Syrie Allred.

She was a 1976 graduate of Fayetteville High School and a graduate of Rita’s Hair Design Institute. She was currently working at Looks Unlimited.

She is survived by her parents, Kenneth and Patsy Allred of Fayetteville; a brother, Kenneth Allred of Fayetteville; four sisters, Donna Allred, Cindy Parker and her husband, Tom, Patty Allred and Amy Gibson and her husband, Kyle, all of Fayetteville; a nephew, Will Gibson; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends.

Cremation was under the direction of Moore’s Chapel. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 23, at Moore’s Chapel.

Obituary for Mark Bassett

Mark Edward Bassett, 52, of Fayetteville, Arkansas, died Sept. 18, 2010, at Washington Regional Medical Center in Fayetteville. He was born Jan. 1, 1958, at Peoria, Illinois, the son of William Henry and Betty Jean Lambert Bassett. He was an artist, a craftsman, electrician, draftsman and neon bender.

Survivors included: his wife, Mary Elizabeth Darling Bassett of the home; three daughters, Desiree Bassett, Jessica Bassett and Niki Bassett, all of Fayetteville, Arkansas; his mother, Betty Jean Bassett of Springdale, Arkansas; two brothers, David Michael Bassett and William Steven Bassett, both of Springdale, Arkansas; one sister, Vickie Lynn Stout of Witter, Arkansas.

Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 24, in the chapel of Brashears Funeral Home with Boyd Darling as the service leader. Interment was in the Henno Cemetery near Aurora under the direction of Brashears Funeral Home of Huntsville, Arkansas. Pallbearers were: Lalo Camacho, Randy Vanhoozen, Joe Hart, David Michael Bassett, Jr., Enrique Camacho and Abram McCawley. Honorary pallbearers will be: William Steven Bassett, George Holtzen, Brett Maguire and Randall Stout. A memorial gathering was held immediate following the interment at the Harwood Tree Farm across from the cemetery.

Obituary for Keith Banks

keith-banksKeith Randolph Banks died at Fayetteville on Jan. 20, 1980. He was born Sept. 5, 1958, at Rogers, Arkansas, to Warren Eugene and Carolyn Banks.

Keith was an usher and crucifer for his church, St. Paul’s, in Fayetteville. He lettered in football in high school and loved to go camping in the mountains. He graduated from Fayetteville High School in 1976 and was attending the University of Arkansas, majoring in chemical engineering.

He had been admitted to the School of Medicine at the time of his death and planned to practice biomedicine, hoping to restore mobility to people with disabilities.

He is buried at Fairview Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Fayetteville.

Obituary for Ricky Ahart

ahart-ricky-portrait-webRicky K. Ahart died March 11, 2002. He was born in Los Angeles, California, on Feb. 18, 1958, the son of Geneva Watson Ahart of Fayetteville and Clifford Ahart of Huntsville.

He was a 1976 graduate of Fayetteville High School. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1977, completing the airborne course of the U.S. Army Infantry School at Fort Benning, Georgia, and serving as a Specialist 4 through 1980.

He is buried at National Cemetery in Fayetteville.
